Last Thursday, Mayor in Tysvær, Harald Stakkestad, together with AGAs management, sat himself in the excavator to officially kick start the construction of AGA's new gas plant. The plant, being built by AGA, will produce air gases (oxygen, nitrogen and argon) to the offshore industry, general industry and health industry on the West Coast of Norway.
Usually one use a shovel to symbolize this, but in this case it was more natural use the excavator. The happy mayor is pleased that AGA decided to build a factory in Tysvær kommune:
- It is a factory with virtually no emissions and the production will have a positive impact on business in the area.
Moving the plant from Sweden
The plant was originally located in Köping, central Sweden. Last week it was shut down. The plant will be dismantled to be moved physically to Susort. The 160 million gas plant is scheduled to be operational in early 2013.
- By moving the factory to Kårstø, we reduce the delivery time and increase security of supply considerably to our customers on the West Coast, says Director of AGA, JosteinThomassen. - A major part of our customer base located is in this area. This reduces emissions and supports our goal of becoming certified under ISO 14001 by 2012, says Thomassen
The modern facility will be staffed with 4 people, but can also be controlled remotely from the AGA plant in Avesta, Sweden.
